Payrate for this position is $29.90
TeWhiwhingamahi | The opportunity
Our Volunteer Home Visiting Programme provides short-term, practical and emotional support to whānau in their homes. Whether it’s helping with everyday tasks, giving a parent the opportunity to catch up on sleep or connecting whānau with local activities and services, the programme responds to what will make a meaningful difference for each family.
You’ll coordinate the day-to-day running of the programme, bringing together volunteers, whānau and community connections to ensure support is welcoming, safe and accessible.
A key part of your role will be recruiting, training and supporting volunteers. You’ll get to know their strengths, help them feel confident in their role and ensure they feel valued for the contribution they make. You’ll also manage referrals, connect with whānau to understand their needs and match them with a suitable volunteer.
Working alongside our clinical and Community Services teams, you will:
- Build trusted relationships with whānau, volunteers and local community organisations.
- Coordinate referrals, volunteer matching and ongoing support.
- Identify barriers to participation and help the programme reach whānau experiencing the greatest inequities.
- Respond to concerns promptly, drawing on the support of your wider team.
- Use community feedback and programme information to improve delivery and demonstrate the difference the service makes.
He kōrero mōu| About you
You’re someone who brings warmth, sound judgement and a practical approach to helping others. You can build rapport with people from different backgrounds, listen without judgement and create an environment where whānau and volunteers feel respected and supported.
You’ll bring at least two years’ experience in community services, coordination or community development within a not-for-profit, social services or health-related organisation. Your experience building community relationships, alongside your ability to recruit, guide and encourage volunteers, will help you succeed.
You’re organised and comfortable balancing referrals, conversations, administration and changing priorities. You can work independently while staying connected with a wider team, and you’re confident using Microsoft 365, Teams and digital tools to coordinate your mahi.
You’ll also bring an understanding of equity and how TeTiriti o Waitangi applies in everyday practice, with a commitment to learning and working in ways that reflect the strengths, cultures and aspirations of the communities we serve.
Ngāhua mahi o Te Whānau ĀwhinaPlunket | What we offer
