Support Worker
At Whānau Āwhina Plunket, we’re passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of tamariki and their whānau. We’re launching a new online service aimed at improving outcomes for those needing support with mild to moderate perinatal anxiety, depression or overall mental wellbeing. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a new initiative that promotes wellbeing, connection, and empowerment.
Te Whiwhingamahi | The opportunity
This is a part time opportunity on a 12-month fixed term basis. This role is all about connection and support. You’ll build meaningful relationships with clients and whānau and support them to engage with our services and navigate other appropriate supports in their community. You will provide information, support and take the lead on coordination, organisation and co-facilitation of online group programmes to build their confidence and skillset to support their wellbeing now and into the future.

We’re looking for people who are:
- Passionate about supporting others
- Excellent communicators
- Empathetic and culturally responsive
- Confidence delivering services in a virtual environment, and working collaboratively as part of a remote team
- An understanding of the Waikato region– its communities, services, and geography, and existing relationships in mental health and social services would be advantageous
Ngāpukengame tohunga Motuhake | Skills and Qualifications
- Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification (or currently working towards it)
- Experience supporting people living with health or social challenges
- Capable coordinators – able to plan, organise and keep track of the details to ensure services (sessions, workshops and programmes) run smoothly
