Senior Communications Advisor - Fixed Term


At Whānau Āwhina Plunket, people are at the heart of what we do, our teams of nurses & health workers care for pēpi and whānau across Aotearoa on a day to day basis, providing reassurance and clinical advice in homes, clinics and in community settings.

We are seeking an engaging, experienced Senior Communications Advisor to join our team in a full time fixed term role for six months to start as soon as possible.

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join a much-loved national charity on its pro-equity journey. Have a direct impact on future generations and help to shape the future of our service by leading communications and stakeholder engagement across multiple projects, with a key focus on service delivery. 

Projects you’ll be involved in include our immunisation pilot partnership, new nurse prescribing service and the expansion of our 24/7 PlunketLine service. These projects are already underway so you will be able to hit the ground running to create and manage communications and stakeholder engagement plans that have clear goals and measurable outputs to support change. Working with a range of stakeholders, you’ll also:

  • communicate change and progress internally 
  • identify and work with external stakeholders as required 
  • connect the project and communications teams. 

 

He kōrero mōu | About you

You will be an experienced communications professional who can collaborate with project teams and staff across Plunket’s national and regional offices, including nursing and community teams, to tell the Whānau Āwhina Plunket story. Your strong communication skills alongside your strategic thinking mindset and collaborative approach will ensure you thrive in this short term role.

You will also be/have:

  • At least 5 years' experience in a senior communications role or equivalent 
  • Experience developing communication and stakeholder engagement plans, their implementation, and measuring of results 
  • Strong understanding of change communications. 
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • An understanding of the importance of culturally relevant communications and be committed to our pro-equity journey and priority populations
