Registered Nurse - Taumarunui
Research has repeatedly shown investment in establishing a safe and nourishing antenatal and early years environment has a direct co-relation with positive physical, mental, and emotional health into adulthood. As a Registered Nurse with Whānau Āwhina Plunket, you have a chance to spend your work day proactively contributing to lifelong and intergenerational wellbeing.
Apply today to join our Taumarunui team on a permanent basis. You will ideally work 4 days a week, however, if you are looking for full time or 3 days, please apply and let us know in your cover letter what you are looking for.
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
Working in partnership with a well-respected and connected Kaiāwhina, you will visit whānau mostly in their homes and host clinics. As a duo you will support whānau in Taumarunui. Given you will be the sole nurse in the community, being able to practice independently and having existing connections in the Taumarunui community will be especially advantageous.
It is an exciting time to join the Taumarunui team and be at the forefront of providing holistic care with our immunisation clinic set to begin in 2025. You will support Taumarunui pēpi and whānau from the time they are discharged from their midwife (or other LMC) through to their final check which takes place around 3 years old. Imagine, watching your community grow before your eyes!
At Whānau Āwhina Plunket, we walk alongside caregivers from all backgrounds, including those who are experiencing difficult periods or other issues which make raising small people more complex. Our duty of care means that assessing the development of our clients and the clinical aspects in our top to toe physical assessments co-exists with exploring the wider environment pēpi is in. This might involve exposure to family harm, substance addiction and deprivation. The change and impact we make might not be fast but is certainly fulfilling when we are able to make a difference.
He kōrero mōu | About you
Having the people skills to form connections and trust with parents and caregivers is key to this position. You will come to us with exceptional clinical skills, which will be tested daily as you conduct assessments on from 4 weeks through to 3 years. Where we connect with clients with multiple needs, there will be several referrals to be written and sent, so a level of computer literacy is required for the role.
