Registered Nurse - PlunketLine

PlunketLine is a free telehealth helpline and advice service available to whānau 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our Registered Nurses use their clinical expertise and knowledge to help caregivers manage everyday parenting queries as well as managing emergent situations and delivering lifesaving clinical advice for families.

We are recruiting for two permanent 0.6FTE Registered Nurses. You will work a two-week fixed rotating roster (consisting of 3 x 7.5 hour shifts a week) with a set shift pattern. With no night shifts, Monday and Tuesday off and alternating weekends off.

We have two physical call centres in Auckland and Wellington where you are welcome to work from; confident practitioners can work remotely anywhere in Aotearoa, provided you have fast-fibre connection and a space which allows you to work uninterrupted and maintain our caller’s confidentiality.

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

Plunketline Registered Nurses answer calls 24/7 related to the health and well-being of Tamariki under 5 and parenting advice. While the comfort of working from home is a great perk, when on shift, you will be required to be at your desk and ready for every call.

Calls vary from traditional well child queries about solids and sleep, to receiving calls seeking advice about vomiting, colds, flu, burns and everything in between. Calls managed through your clinical assessment and nursing judgement can make a huge difference to whanau and client outcomes. We provide comprehensive training and on call support from Clinical Leaders, however your clinical judgement and assessment skills are key to ensuring you make the right decision to get the best outcome for your caller.

Full time annual base salaries are between $66,222 ($33.51 per hour) to $94,842 ($48.00 per hour) depending on experience, with penal rates available for weekend and evening work.

He kōrero mōu | About you

Telehealth is all about effective listening and assessment skills. You’ll use a compassionate approach to ask the right questions to gather all relevant information and gain an understanding of the caller’s situation before giving advice and recommendation.

You will thrive in remaining at the top of your game in dynamic environments and be able to think on your feet and maintain a sense of resilience throughout your shift.

As a computer-based role, you will need to be comfortable working within multiple systems and have high level of computer literacy.

While previous telehealth, paediatrics, emergency or prior call centre experience is desirable, it is not required.
