Registered Nurse - Christchurch - Fixed term until 2026
Whānau Āwhina Plunket is the largest service in Aotearoa supporting the health and wellbeing of tamariki under-five and their whānau, we provide clinical support through our traditional well child checks, 24/7 telehealthcare via PlunketLine as well as community support such as playgroups where whānau can gather and form lasting positive relationships within their community.
With own kaimahi set to start their own parening journey, we have two fixed term positions available:
- 0.6FTE - November 2026 - mostly around South West Christchurch.
- 0.8FTE - April 2026 - mostly around Central Christchurch.
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
You will meet whānau in their homes and hold clinics where you will conduct our head to toe assessment, providing clinical advice and where required referrals to ensure pēpi have the best start to life.
Working in the community means meeting people from all walks of life will ensure you have a great deal of variety in your day, and provides the opportunity to utilise your clinical judgement and assessment skills to work in partnership with whānau to create a life wehere pēpi and tamariki thrive.
We've comitted to a pro-equity jouney, we are guided by the articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and actively look to include Māori worldviews in how we approach our mahi. As a nurse, you will look at each whānau in a holistic manner and consider how to support overall aspirations for Hauora.
Please note the full time annual salary for this role is between $66,222 ($33.51 per hour) - $94,842 ($48 per hour) based on experience

Registered Nurses who thrive at Plunket enjoy getting to know people and understanding their individual stories and aspirations. You will be able to navigate what can be difficult and stressful times, and leave people feeling empowered, reasured and well cared for.
As a case manager, you'll be able to plan, prioriotise and be proactive in your communication and documentation to ensure the whānau have a good understanding of their journey with us and that you are leveraging the support from our Health Workers, community support, PlunketLine or external services when required.
While the opportunity to make a difference is alluring, we routienly screen about sensitive issues such as family violence, substance use and maternal mental health, therefore the ability to maintain a non judgemental and supportive approach is key. Simulataneously, its vital you have the resilience and fortitude to manage the more difficult parts that our kaimahi can see.
