Recruitment and Retention Partner - Fixed term until Jan 2027
At Whānau Āwhina Plunket the people we hire help to create positive outcomes for whānau and shift the dial on equitable health outcomes. We are looking for someone to join our team who can think broadly, act boldly and keep us moving forward.

This is a Fixed Term Parental Leave cover from November 2025 – January 2027, we are open to considering applications from either Auckland (some travel between our Auckland offices involved) or Wellington.
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
Given we’re a lean team, if you are craving a bit more stretch and want to go beyond filling jobs, you’ll have the scope to:
- Guide the end-to-end recruitment activity using market data and strategic insights
- Partner with managers to understand their context and goals to craft cost effective and creative sourcing strategies and tailor the selection process to secure the right talent
- Develop and execute strategic initiatives and projects to advance our service and employer brand
- Build and maintain talent pipelines for key service delivery positions, hard-to-fill and critical growth roles.
- Take the lead on optimising our applicant tracking and selection systems in collaboration with our HR Services & Systems Manager.
Our organisational focus on delivering more equitable outcomes means we continuously review our recruitment processes to ensure we are enablers of attracting and securing the right kaimahi. We're here to change the tides for those who are often shown to be over-represented in poorer health outcomes and engagement – including whānau Māori, Pacific Peoples, Young parents, children in state care and rainbow whānau.
He kōrero mōu | About you
To thrive here, you’ll be a jack of all trades, with a strong base understanding of recruitment best practice and selection methodologies, you’ll be comfortable navigating ambiguity and collaborating across the employee lifecycle to support our wider team and kaimahi.
Being able to build credibility and relationships quickly with stakeholders will support you to influence and challenge decisions to keep us innovating while mitigating risk. With a focus on equity across the organization, you’ll have experience tailoring approaches to reach and appeal to target populations.
You’ll be keen to be part of an HR team who are strong believers in keeping our customers in front of mind, value a perfectly selected GIF but most of all, are never scared to jump in to help each other out.
