Principal Operations Advisor - Fixed Term

We’re seeking the support of a Principal Operations Advisor to join our team in a fixed term full time role from June 2025 – January 2026

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

As a trusted advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting the operational success of our services across New Zealand. You’ll lead business planning to achieve operational KPIs and performance goals, while providing strategic advice to the General Manager of Service Delivery. Monitoring and reporting on performance, you’ll identify risks, insights, and opportunities for improvement.

In collaboration with corporate functions, you’ll drive service improvements, aligning systems and processes in areas like risk and compliance. You’ll also contribute to policy development, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities. Additionally, you’ll support innovation and organisational change, driving improvements to better serve whānau across New Zealand.

If you're results-driven with a passion for operational excellence, we would love you to join us in shaping the future of Whānau Āwhina Plunket. This role is critical to our ongoing success, and we’re seeking a communicator and connector who has the skills to be able to serve as the critical link between our operational staff and aligning our practice with our strategy.

You will also be/have:

  • Tertiary qualification in business, policy, or related discipline or relevant experience in a similar role
  • The ability to critically assess, challenge information, analyse situations and develop solutions
  • Experience in the gathering, analysis and presentation of information 
  • Demonstrated ability to write papers and documents suitable for Executive or Governance audiences.
  • A strong understanding of planning, performance and reporting, risk management, business continuity planning and continuous improvement
  • Highly developed influencing and negotiation skills
