Playgroup Coordinator


We’re looking for a warm, organised and community minded Playgroup Coordinator to lead engaging playgroup sessions that support the wellbeing and development of pēpē and tamariki while fostering meaningful connections for parents and caregivers.

This part-time role (10.5 hours per week across Monday–Thursday) supports four playgroups across Titirangi, Hobsonville Point, and Kelston/ New Lynn, with time allocated for both facilitation and coordination activities.

The payrate for this role is $28.95 per hour

As our Playgroup Coordinator, you’ll create a safe, inclusive and friendly environment where whānau feel welcomed and supported. From setting up creative and educational play experiences to encouraging participation, building community connections and helping families feel at home, this role is all about creating positive experiences that make a difference.

You’ll work closely with our Community Services team, volunteers and local whānau to coordinate fun, engaging sessions while ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the playgroup. This includes organising activities, maintaining equipment, supporting health and safety processes and contributing to the ongoing success of the programme.

You’re someone who genuinely loves working with people and creating welcoming environments where everyone feels included. You bring energy, initiative and a positive attitude, along with the ability to build strong relationships with whānau, tamariki, volunteers and the wider community.

You may come from an early childhood, community services, playgroup or facilitation background or have transferable experience coordinating groups and activities in a community setting.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

Ngā pūkenga me tōhunga Motuhake | Skills and Qualifications

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Familiarity with early childhood education environments and/or playgroup settings 
  • Understanding of Ministry of Education playgroup requirements 
  • Experience facilitating groups, activities or community programmes 
  • Confidence engaging with a wide range of people and communities 
  • Integrity, reliability and the ability to maintain confidentiality 
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and learning
