Payroll Team Leader - Wellington (4 days a week)
At our heart, Whānau Āwhina Plunket is a nationwide charity devoted to helping little lives thrive.
Following an internal movement, we have the opportunity for an experience senior payroll specialist to take the step up as our next Payroll Team Leader, you will lead our small, but experienced team of 3 administrators. This is a permanent 0.8 FTE role, which can be worked either as shorter days or with Fridays off. We work in a hybrid way, connecting in our central Wellington office on Tuesday and Wednesday and working from home Monday and Thursday.
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
You'll own the processing of our fortnightly payroll and effectively allocate and coordinate team workload and signing off the pay to ensure our 1100 kaimahi (employees) are paid on time and accurately.
Outside of BAU, you’ll identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and consistency and provide analytical insights and reporting to support finance and leadership to make decisions and be available for escalations related any complex situations.
We’re looking for someone to foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability within our team, and empower your team to partner with managers and employees, providing clear payroll advice.
He kōrero mōu | About you
Working as a team is key in how we work; you’ll partner closely with Finance, HR, and managers across the organisation. As an active listener, you will take time to understand the business, wider teams, managers, and your team before guiding and advising on the best solutions. You’ll know how to balance meeting business needs with working within payroll frameworks and legislation.
Experience with TechnologyOne (TechOne) will be a strong advantage but provided you are tech-savvy and proactive, learning a new system shouldn’t be a barrier.
While prior management experience is preferred it is not essential. If are wanting to move into leadership and are currently coaching colleagues and taking a leadership role as a senior in large payroll team then this role could be for you.
