Home Visiting Volunteer Coordinator

At Whānau Āwhina Plunket, we believe in the strength of whānau and the power of communities. We’re seeking the support of a Volunteer Home Visiting Coordinator in a part time fixed term role for 12 months (8 hours per week, hours to be negotiated) to join our team in West Auckland. We have offices in both Henderson and Mount Albert.

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

In this role, you’ll lead the delivery of our Volunteer Home Visiting programme in West Auckland. You’ll be at the heart of the mahi that brings trained volunteers together with families, providing practical support, encouragement, and connection when it's most needed.

You'll work closely with local families, assess their needs, match them with the right volunteer support, and ensure the programme is running effectively. You’ll also recruit, train and supervise our dedicated volunteer team, helping them grow and thrive in their roles.

Your mahi will directly support positive outcomes for tamariki and whānau in our community.

This is a paid role, and the hourly pay rate is $27.80.

He kōrero mōu | About you

You're someone who sees potential in people — whether that’s a whānau navigating a tough season or a volunteer stepping into a new role. You're a natural connector, calm under pressure, and confident managing relationships across the community.

You’ll also be/have:

  • Experience in the community, health, social services, or volunteer sector
  • Strength in training and supervision
  • Sensitivity and empathy for people from diverse backgrounds
  • Solid admin and organisational skills
  • A commitment to working in partnership with whānau and empowering local communities
  • Initiative and self-motivation — you'll be working independently most of the time

Programme or service delivery experience is a bonus, but more important is your commitment to the mahi and your ability to get alongside people with respect and care.
