GM Transformation and Digital

Mō mātou | About Us

Whānau Āwhina Plunket is Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest provider of Well Child Tamariki Ora services, supporting the health and development of tamariki and their whānau from birth to five years.  We are present in communities across the motu, with a workforce of nurses, health workers, community kaimahi and support teams delivering services every day.

With a bold new strategy about to be launched, we are entering a period of organisational change.  We are strengthening our services, our systems, and our ways of working to deliver a genuinely connected, equitable experience for every whānau we serve.  As a result, this new ELT position has been created to bring deep expertise in both transformation and technology/digital.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

As GM Transformation and Digital, you will sit on the ELT and provide organisation-wide leadership of transformation and change, digital, ICT, data and insights, and service design.

This is firstly a transformation leadership role, but technology expertise is equally important. You will set the direction for how we transform, leading the sequencing, governance, and delivery of a complex, organisation-wide programme of work.

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Leading organisation-wide transformation, improving navigation, and responsiveness for whānau and kaimahi and supporting innovation and growth.
  • Digital and ICT leadership.  Overseeing digital platforms, ICT operations, cyber security, and the investment roadmap, including a review of Plunket’s core technology platform.
  • AI strategy and governance.  Leading the development and responsible, ethical adoption of AI, with explicit attention to issues of bias and data sovereignty.
  • Data and insights.  Building enterprise data capability to underpin equity-focused decision-making across the organisation.
  • Whānau experience and service integration.  Leading the design of integrated, end-to-end whānau and kaimahi journeys across clinical, operational, and digital functions
You will lead a multidisciplinary team of approximately 30, with key direct report leads based in Wellington and Christchurch.

Ko wai koe | About you

You are a senior transformation leader with a strong digital and technology foundation.  You have led complex, organisation-wide change at pace.  You understand that sustainable transformation requires people, process, and technology to move together, and you deeply care about making a difference for whānau, tamariki and pepe.

You will bring:

  • Significant senior leadership experience in both transformation and digital, ideally in organisations of comparable scale and complexity.
  • A track record of leading organisation-wide change programmes that deliver measurable outcomes.
  • A reputation as an enterprise collaborator and listener who builds trusted relationships, actively seeks diverse perspectives, and translates insight into aligned end-to-end transformation.
  • Experience building data and insights capability to drive evidence-based, equity-focused decisions.
  • The ability to translate complex technical and strategic concepts into clear advice for the CE, ELT, and Board.
  • An understanding of embedding te ao Māori values and equity principles in service design and digital practice.
  • Experience in health or social services would be an advantage.
This role can be based in any major city in NZ, regular travel will be required.
