Family Start Whānau Worker - Tauranga
Family Start is a free home-visiting programme where we're able to support whānau who need tailored support and connecting them with services that enable, bolster and support their confidence and overall wellbeing and safety of their tamariki.
We're recruiting for a permanent part time (30 hours per week) Family Start Whānau Worker to support families based in Tauranga - we are ideally looking for this to be 5 shorter days a week. Likely 8.30 - 3 but with some flexibility.
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
Working with approximately 12 whānau at a time, you'll have the time and ability to truly make a difference. You will building relationships to understand what their needs are and working alongside to develop and review family whānau plans. The steps you take alongside whānau might seem small but the impacts are great.
He kōrero mōu | About you
You will be a reliable empathic self starter who has prior experience working collaboratively with colleagues and external providers from other disciplines. You will be a registered profession such as a social worker or qualified teacher who is passionate about supporting whānau to be the best they can.
The must haves for this role:
- A tertiary qualification in social services, health, education or a related field
- A working knowledge of Oranga Tamariki Act 1989 and other relevant NZ legislation
- Experience and passion for working with children, young people, and families.
- The ability to prioritise and manage caseloads effectively.
- The commitment to providing services in the spirit of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- A current full clean New Zealand driver’s licence
