Community Services Team Leader


The world is fast changing, and the needs of whānau raising tamariki have changed dramatically in recent years. Our community services provide supplementary support to our clinical teams to support holistic whānau wellness, provide helpful services and supporting stronger community bonds.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Community Services Team Leader to lead our team in the LowerSouth Island on a permanent part time (32 hours a week) basis, providing key leadership in delivering essential community services.

While we have a preference for this role to be based in or near a town centre, we are open to applications from candidates in any South Island location.

As the Community Services Team Leader, you’ll be a key member in the Southern Leadership team and lead a dynamic multi-disciplinary teamYour team includes Community Service Co-ordinators, Playgroup Coordinators, Injury Prevention and Home Visiting Support Co-ordinators who deliver critical services and key community-focused programmes. You will take an operational view of team performance, and advocate for service delivery that is locally responsive and nationally consistent ensuring we meet the needs of our priority communities. You’ll also play a key role in risk management, reporting, and fostering relationships with stakeholders across the community sector.To navigate your way across your region, travel will be required.

He kōrero mōu | About you

To thrive in this role, you will bring proven leadership experience, with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a team, alongside a collaborative approach, with excellent communication, relationship-building skills and attention to detail.

You will also be/have:

  • A tertiary qualification (diploma or above) in Community Services, Education or Social Service or strong experience in community services, ideally within the NGO, health, or community sectors.
  • Understanding of volunteering, community development, and the challenges that priority communities face.
  • The ability to manage budgets, lead workplans, and take ownership of results.
  • Cultural competency and the ability to support and advocate for Māori, Pasifika, Asian, and other communities in Aotearoa New Zealand.
