Community Services Manager - Waikato


The world is fast changing, and the needs of whānau raising tamariki have changed dramatically in recent years. Our community services provide supplementary support to our clinical teams to support holistic whānau wellness, provide helpful services and supporting stronger community bonds.

We have an exciting opportunity for passionate and experienced Community Services Manager to join our revamped team and provide strong local leadership in the implementation of our strategic vision. This is a permanent part time role (20 hours per week - with some negotiation on days and hours). While our preference is this role is based in Hamilton, we will consider applications from wider Waikato region, BOP or Lakes District.

Step into a rewarding leadership role as a Community Services Manager, where you’ll lead passionate teams in delivering vital community services across the region. This role offers you the chance to shape the future of service delivery, ensuring that our services meet local needs and align with Plunket's broader strategic vision. Your leadership will be key in driving performance, accountability, and high-quality, culturally safe services that make a real difference for whānau and communities.

In this role, you’ll foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within your team. Working with your colleagues and the Head of Community Services, you’ll develop and implement strategies to ensure services are responsive, sustainable, and aligned with the needs of your communities. You’ll take ownership and drive initiatives that create lasting change for the people we serve.

Building and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders—including iwi, government agencies, health sector partners, and NGOs—will be crucial to the success of your team. You’ll work to integrate services, meet operational targets, and ensure that financial and performance outcomes are achieved.

We’re looking for someone who is not only strategic but also positive and motivated with a "can-do" attitude. You will be able to work autonomously, managing both the day-to-day needs of the role and the longer-term strategic direction. You’ll cultivate meaningful internal connections and create a collaborative environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute.

You will also be/have:

  • A tertiary qualification (diploma or above) in Community Services, Education, Social Services, or extensive leadership/management experience.
  • Proven leadership and management experience, with a track record of developing and delivering services
  • Experience in stakeholder management and building strong relationships with community groups, and external partners.
  • Strong financial and budgetary management skills in a non-profit or charitable context.
  • A passion for community development and ensuring services are equitable and accessible to Māori, Pacific, Asian, and other priority populations.

You will also need a full NZ Drivers Licence as regular travel will be part of this role.
