Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Communications and Marketing Advisor to help shape the future of our service delivery through clear, engaging and purposeful communications. This is a full-time fixed term position until 30th June based in Wellington, but we can be flexible on location.

This fixed‑term role sits within our People and Culture function and plays a key role in supporting a suite of strategic projects that directly impact pēpi, tamariki and their whānau across Aotearoa. Current projects include new service pilots, digital initiatives, service expansions and partnerships across the health sector.

Working closely with project teams, you will lead communications, marketing and stakeholder engagement activity - creating and delivering plans that support change, build understanding, and keep people informed and connected. You’ll bring projects to life through inclusive and effective storytelling across internal channels, digital platforms, media and stakeholder communications.

This is a highly collaborative role where you’ll connect teams, engage external partners, and support local sites to ensure communications are timely, accessible and aligned with our kaupapa, brand and pro‑equity journey.

He kōrero mōu | About you

You’re a confident and values‑led communications professional who thrives in change environments and knows how to engage diverse audiences.

You’ll bring:

  • Extensive experience (around 5+ years) in a communications, marketing or engagement role
  • A strong track record in developing and delivering communications, marketing and stakeholder engagement plans
  • Proven experience supporting organisational or service change through clear, well‑timed communications
  • Excellent written, verbal and digital communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into engaging, accessible content
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects
  • The ability to build trusted relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders

You’ll also bring an understanding of te ao Māori and te Tiriti o Waitangi, with a genuine commitment to pro‑equity practice and inclusive communications, including the use and integration of te reo Māori.

Most importantly, you’ll align with Whānau Āwhina Plunket values - being māia, tūhono, manaaki and māhaki - and be motivated by work that improves outcomes for tamariki, whānau and communities.
