Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

At Whānau Āwhina Plunket we are looking for an experienced Clinical Quality Advisor to join our Clinical Quality team on a full-time permanent basis. This role can be based anywhere across the country with a quarterly commitment to travel to our head office in Wellington.

In this role, you will help ensure high-quality clinical practice is maintained across our services. You will lead sentinel-event investigations and case reviews, oversee identified clinical-governance issues and help translate lessons and recommendations into meaningful improvements.

You will work closely with clinical and operational leaders, supporting them to understand and respond to clinical risks and embed changes into everyday practice. You will also contribute to clinical-quality reporting, policy development and the ongoing improvement of our clinical processes.

Your work will include:

• Leading investigations and clinical case reviews
• Identifying clinical risks, trends and opportunities for improvement
• Reviewing and updating clinical policies, procedures, protocols and manuals
• Supporting leaders and kaimahi to implement practice changes
• Preparing reports and providing analysis of clinical quality indicators
• Working with our Education team to address identified practice needs
• Assessing Professional Development Recognition Programme portfolios
• Building strong relationships across clinical and service delivery teams

He kōrero mōu | About you

You are an experienced registered nurse with a strong understanding of clinical quality, risk and professional practice.

You are comfortable working through complex and sensitive clinical matters and can identify the wider learning and improvements that may be needed. You take a fair, thoughtful and evidence-based approach and communicate clearly with both clinical and non clinical audiences.

You will bring:

• A current Nursing Council of New Zealand Annual Practising Certificate
• At least three years’ experience in clinical leadership
• Strong knowledge of nursing practice, cultural competence and family partnership principles
• Experience supporting clinical quality, risk or continuous improvement activities
• The ability to review information, identify themes and make practical recommendations
• Experience coaching and influencing others to support quality practice
• The ability to build trusted relationships and bring people along through change
• An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Te Ao Māori and their application within clinical practice

A Postgraduate Certificate in Primary Health Care Specialty Nursing Well Child/Tamariki Ora and an appropriate Professional Development Recognition Programme level for nurses who influence practice are preferred.
