B4 School Nurse - Auckland

Kotahi mano ngā rā hiki te oranga mo ngā whakatipuranga, i roto i  ngā  hapori

In the first 1000 days setting the path of wellness in our communities, for generations to come

Join our B4 School team in Auckland to deliver health and development checks for 4-year-olds. Working for Whānau Āwhina Plunket gives you the opportunity to maintain a stimulating role where you make a difference while also allowing you to have the work life balance that many nurses crave.

We have two roles available in Auckland – one to cover Glen Innes, Pt England, Panmure, Mt Wellington and Otahuhu and the other in West Auckland – Whenuapai, Massey, Ranui, New Lynn and Glen Eden. These roles are full time, fixed term for 12 months, but there could be some flexibility available around the hours you work.

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

You will conduct health checks in homes, clinics, early childhood centres and other community hubs. Our beautiful community is famous for being the melting pot where numerous cultures converge, mix and live together. We're actively seeking to recruit a candidate who can demonstrate an understanding of what goes into building effective partnerships.

We will support you to become a specialist in 4-year-old development and expand your assessment skills. There is also the potential to complete a Post Graduate Certificate in Well Child Tamariki Ora Health.

He kōrero mōu | About you

We’re interested in hearing from new graduates, established nurses and we also have our Return to Nursing Competency Assessment Programme for nurses who have not practiced recently.

The uniqueness of the whānau and aiga that we connect with is what makes our role interesting, you will be flexible in your approach, but always with a listening ear, manākitanga (support), ngākau (respect) and the ability to provide culturally safe care.

While the autonomy which comes with working on your own will be attractive to you, your ability to work in collaboration with others will be the key to your success. Our team place our community at the centre of what we do, and you will share this value.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Be a registered nurse
  • Hold or be able to obtain an Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Hold a full clean NZ Drivers Licence
  • Be committed to completing Post Graduate Certificate in Well Child Tamariki Ora
